art / LA lesson today. kind of a "hurry up and create something big and visual before mrs. c. comes back" effort. it turned out all right - an acrostic poem on literary heroes, combined with torn-art representations of the character. the torn-art didn't come out too well (and yes i know that's not DBAE or lowenfeld approved) but kat's c. breezed in to use the microwave and commented on how nice the hanging FINISHED PRODUCT (my c's favorite term) looked. hopefully my c. will agree, even though i really don't love the word "nice."
the rest of the week looks easy on the surface but will really suck. c. returns tomorrow and i have no idea what that will be like. might be stressful, might be a relief. if my unit plan weren't due tomorrow i'd be cruising with the fabulous life of xtina aguilera or whatever other trash is on vh1. friday is professional collab day which means no teaching but a much harder task: staying awake for hours of collaboration. c. said, "that's the nice thing - it's not always all kids all day." seriously, i'd rather teach kids all day than be forced to consort with adults all day. i mean, if i could pick.
