what a (nice) day. what a (nice) change.
started off with hot chocolate and blueberry muffin - i may not be allowed to drink soda till we deck the halls with boughs of plastic easter grass, but that hasn't lowered my sugar intake a bit. sweet beginnings do help. discovered i forgot my lunch, but didn't have time to eat it anyway. made some overdue phone calls, turned in the kids' middle school registrations, called recruitment and found out that i will be put in class III and paid retroactively as soon as i submit my transcripts that show i finished the SATEP. good news dance! then i actually got all my laminating done, so had lots to slice and dice, plus hawaiiana teacher was sick so i had an extra 45 minutes to fill. math lesson: similar and congruent polygons. we played with geoboards, and amazingly, nobody snapped any fingers with the rubber bands ...
ran up to school to pay grad fee ($115!! what IS that for?!) and get my noggin measured for the cap. good thing i didn't listen to the registrar, who told me i needed an appointment at the bookstore. so, got graduation ducks in a row and now just need to ... graduate. pass this last class, pass the comps, bid this lovely school adieu. it's been a grand two years. but maybe i should, uh, not count my chickens yet.
then i came home and noticed two pieces of mail for me - one was my checkcard PIN (yay, now i can spend my money) and the other was a 5 x 8 envelope - relatively fat - that looked like it had been thrown in a mud puddle, danced on, blow-dried, thrown in a second mud puddle, tossed in the air, run over by a mack truck, and then delivered to my mailbox. but of course with 5 x 8 envelopes it's what's inside that counts. almighty PRAXIS scores - damaged and dirty, but here at last.
i leafed through the score interpretation guide before peeking - to see the HI state minimums. but apparently they are printed right on the score sheet, so that was time wasted. anyway, you can relive the exhausting day through my scores - they decreased little by little with each test completed. but the important thing is that i passed all three, never have to go back there, don't have to give ETS any more money, can now complete my licensure paperwork. on one of the tests i got 195/200, which made me feel really smart. (once a grade whore, always a grade whore. extrinsic motivators are my friend.)
called K, he asked how i did. i told him i was pleased with the results. he actually asked me how far above average i scored. so i told him. i added that i had been a little nervous while waiting on the scores. his reply? "everyone i know passed it on their first try. and those people aren't too bright."
you know, various people always try to call to my attention what a great catch he is, but sometimes i really, really, REALLY beg to differ.
anyway, i don't need him to validate what i know - i'm DONE, the praxis has been hoe-down stomped into the ground and now we can all just get on with ... our lives.
